Biography of Saxophonist, performer and teacher Amonn AL-Mahrouq
In 1994 Amonn won the prestigious Wilfred Scrathchel Music Cup in recognition of his "Outstanding achievement to Music making at Sibford School". In 1996 and 1997 he attended The Royal College Of Music Junior Department and played at the British Saxophone Congress in 1997, in the same year he was awarded a scholarship to Dartington International Summer School and was a member of The National Youth Wind Orchestra of Great Britain until 1998. In 1998 Amon passed his Grade 8 ABRSM Saxophone Exam with Distinction and gained his Grade 8 ABRSM Theory of Music. In 1999, 2000 and 2001 he attended "Le Domaine Forget ", Quebec, Canada studying under Professor Jean-Marie Londeix, eminent French Saxophonist.
Amonn was very privileged to study under Professors Bryan Kelly and Christian Lauba and Attarah Ben-Tovim at Bordeaux Conservatoire.
He gained his B(Mus) Honours Degree in Saxophone from Trinity College Of Music, London, 2002 and P.G.C.E, 2003 in Adult and Further Education from Portsmouth University. Amonn is now currently studying under Richard Ingham, Professor of Saxophone at St. Andrews University, Scotland. He regularly attends Saxophone classes at the Bordeaux Conservatoire studying under Marie-Bernadette Charrier.
Amonn's activities include giving concerts, teacing Saxophone/theory of music, holding master classes, giving recitals, saxophone concerts and adjudicates competitions. He teaches to all standards and charges £30 per hour - please contact us for further information and availability.

Amonn has had an interest in computer programming from an early age at an amateur level, writing quiz programs for students and helping develop e-based learning. Currently he is studying for a MSc in Internet Technology and Management from the University of Portsmouth.
Amonn has written extensive saxophone and music tutorials available to all.
