What is web-hosting?

  • Offers you space to place your files, data, documents, for your customers to access via their web browser.
  • Enables you to send and receive e-mail and files over the web.
  • Provides you with the means to have an address, so anyone with access to the web can view your web site and communicate with you by e-mail.
  • Transfer and Disk Space - Measured in Megabytes or Gigabytes - these amounts will limit how many files, documents or e-mail you can have on your site, or send via your web-site/e-mail account(s).
  • The more people that access your site, and the more you send/receive e-mail or store files on your site, the more transfer and Disk Space you use and subsequently the higher the price of your hosting package. 404 Error: This error occurs when you go to a page on a web site with a missing, damaged or broken url.

E-Books - Why should you create them?

You should try to create useful e-books that can be downloaded from your site free of charge - this is because offering something for nothing, will spread the name of your site and improve your rankings. E-Books may take the form of magazines, publicity material, price lists, etc. A good format for these is adobe PDF as it is a recognised standard.

Above all - your book should be interesting to read and be relevant to your business.

Some of the major book publishers are now distributing theses e-books instead of using traditional paper.
